Previous training in the Camp Nou

Barça has completed the final training session behind closed doors in the stadium, before the visit of Málaga.

The team receives tonight at Málaga (20 hours) and in the morning has carried out previous training behind closed doors, at the Camp Nou. They have exercised the same players in Tuesday's session. That is, 15 with the first team and three subsidiary Bartra, Montoya and Tello. Piqué has continued to work the sidelines. The center-back is one of the low azulgrana, along with Xavi, Alexis, Villa, Fontàs and Abidal.

Alexis knock makes him doubt for Wednesday

Alexis has picked up a knock on his left leg and he will be kept under observation before a decision is made as to his availability for Wednesday’s game against Malaga.

Victor Valdes also missed training today, under the weather with fever.



The squad trained this Monday lunchtime after their big win against Rayo, but two big names were missing: Alexis, who picked up a knock on his left leg, and Valdes, who is ill. The Chilean hit man is doubtful for Wednesday’s game, though the Club doctors are keeping him under observation before making a final decision.

The players who figured on Sunday were given a gentle session, whilst the rest of the squad began preparations for Wednesday night’s game, along with 10 B team players - Bartra, Tello and Montoya –who were included in the squad for the Rayo game- and Rodri, Carmona, Oriol Rosell, Espinosa, Lobato, Sergi Gómez and Masip. Barça's first team set to return to work on Friday

After a two-day break, Barça will return to training on Friday morning to prepare for the match against Rayo Vallecano.

After the game against Chelsea, Barça’s first team were given two days off, Wednesday and Thursday. The team will return to training on Friday at 11:00 at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Pep Guardiola will start to prepare his men for Barça’s next La Liga match, which is away to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday at 21:30.

Barça will also train on Saturday morning, this time at the Ciutat Esportiva Sant Joan Despí. The team will travel to Madrid on Sunday morning. The coaching staff have 16 first-team players available for the match, while Gerard Piqué and Xavi Hernández will miss the game due to injury. (via FCBarcelona.com)

Final session before the turnaround

The 21 players named by Guardiola have practiced this afternoon at the Camp Nou in camera.

The staff of FC Barcelona has left for a few hours the team hotel to come to the Camp Nou and do the last workout before tonight's match against Chelsea. The 21 players focused for this match have been exercised after 12 noon on the lawn of the stadium, scene of the match where Barca will have to come from behind 1-0 in the first leg if you want to be on May 19th in Champions League final in Munich.

After the session, the team will again concentrate on the W hotel until 18.30, when they return to Camp Nou, now, to play the important game against Chelsea. (via FCBarcelona.cat)

Focused on Chelsea

Guardiola names 21 footballers -18 first-team players and Barça B's Tello, Bartra and Montoya - to Barça's Champions League team against Chelsea.

FC Barcelona completed their penultimate training session before the Champions League semi-final return match against Chelsea. All available first-team players, with the exceptions of Villa, Fontàs and Abidal, were at Josep Guardiola’s disposal this afternoon.

All of them, 18 first-team players plus Barça B’s Tello, Montoya and Bartra, trained at the Camp Nou. The 21 footballers, upon completing the session, returned to the Hotel W, where they will spend the night.

The team is scheduled to complete their final training session tomorrow morning. The closed-door training session will begin at 12:00 at the Camp Nou.

Today’s training session had a special visitor. Thierry Henry, ex-FC Barcelona player, didn’t miss the chance to watch his ex-teammates train. (via FCBarcelona.com)

Training focus on Chelsea

The Barça players trained at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper this lunchtime with the focus very much on the visit of Chelsea to the Camp Nou on Tuesday night.

The players who figured against Real Madrid last night did some light training, whilst the rest of the squad – together with Bartra and Montoya from Barça B and Bañuz, from the Youth team- had a more intense session.

With just two days to prepare for Tuesday’s Champions League semi final second leg, Guardiola put those players who played on Saturday night through a gentle warm down session, with the rest of the players, plus B team players Bartra and Montoya and Miguel Bañuz from the Youth team, having a more intense session.

The squad trained behind closed doors at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, using the special Champions League ball and during the session the players and coaching staff congratulated the keepers coach Juan Carlos Unzué, whose birthday it is today. (via FCBarcelona.cat)

Barça return to the scene where it all started

The 22 footballers named to FC Barcelona team against Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final trained this Tuesday evening at Stamford Bridge.

Stamford Bridge will always be embedded in the memories of Barça fans after Iniesta’s goal on May 6th 2009 which saw Barça through to the final in Rome. This Tuesday evening, the Spanish midfielder and his teammates returned to the scene where it all started in preparation for tomorrow’s Champions League semi-final match against Chelsea.

Under the cold English rain, the 22 footballers (18 first-team footballers and 4 reserve players) named to FC Barcelona’s team completed a training session ahead of tomorrow’s match. The match against Chelsea will kick off tomorrow at 20:45 (TV3). (via FCBarcelona.com)

Alves and Piqué, convened against Levante

The full-back and centre-back are the main news from the list of 18 players for the match FC Barcelona against Levante.

By contrast, Keita is low as a precaution due to a mild discomfort in his right thigh.



Good news for the coaching squad. Looking to the game this Saturday in the field of the Levant (22 hours, TV3 and La Sexta), Barça recovered two members: Gerard Piqué and Dani Alves. Both have been discharged after they had passed their muscle problems. The centre-back had missed the last two matches of the season and the full-back, the final against Getafe.

Then Dani Alves and Piqué would work normally with the group. Keita, however, has exercised outside on the lawn for the inconvenience. Alves joins team-mates in training

The Brazilian international continues to nurse a sore left thigh muscle but was able to work alongside his team-mates for part of Monday’s training session. However, Piqué exercised away from the main group.



Guardiola continued his preparations for the Getafe match with the first team squad plus Bartra, Montoya, Tello and Muniesa from the reserves.

The players trained on Monday afternoon ahead of Tuesday’s Camp Nou clash with Getafe (9 pm). Dani Alves, who picked up a slight thigh strain in the game against Zaragoza, was able to follow part of the session with the other players. The Brazilian was one of 18 available first-team players who took part in the session together with Ibrahim Afellay, who is still working his way back to fitness.

Meanwhile, Gerard Piqué trained separately from the group as part of his recovery from a thigh problem.

Four members of the Barça B squad, Bartra, Montoya, Tello y Muniesa, also took part in the session.

Recovery work without Alves

After the victory at La Romareda, Barça trained this morning at the Ciutat Esportiva. Alves, with a stained muscle in his left thigh, is doubtful for the match against Getafe.

Guardiola worked will all available first-team footballers and Barça B’s Tello, Montoya, Muniesa and Bartra. Barça’s U18 A keeper, Sergi Tienda, also participated in the session.



FC Barcelona held a closed-door training session this Sunday morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The starters against Zaragoza did recovery work while the players that didn’t feature against the Aragón side completed a more intense work out. The Brazilian underwent tests to determine the extent of the injury he picked up against Zaragoza. The results indicate that the player has pulled a muscle in left thigh. His recovery will mark his availability for this Tuesday’s match against Getafe at the Camp Nou.

Session with the B and heavy rainfall

20 players named to the squad ahead of the Barça-Milan clash

Guardiola has named 17 first-team footballers plus Muniesa, Tello and Montoya from Barça B to the FC Barcelona squad for tomorrow's showdown with AC Milan at the Camp Nou.

Ibrahim Afellay, who turned 26 today, also trained with the team this afternoon.

The Camp Nou is ready for the Champions League. This Monday, FC Barcelona completed their penultimate session before the decisive match against AC Milan. Guardiola trained with 20 footballers: 17 from the first team plus Muniesa, Montoya and Tello from Barça B. Therefore, the Barça manager will have to discard two players before tomorrow’s Champions League showdown.

Recovery work and focus

The first team trained this Sunday, already focussing on the game against Milan in the Champions League this coming Tuesday.

The squad from last night’s game against Bilbao did some recovery work and were joined by 10 players from the B Team.

A few hours after beating a brave Athletic Bilbao outfit, Barça trained behind closed doors at the Joan Gamper training ground. The fixture schedule offers no respite. On Tuesday the first team face one of the most important games of the season: the return leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League against Milan, at the Camp Nou. This Sunday, at midday, the reigning Champions of Europe began to prepare for the match.

Light work for last night’s players

Those who played on Saturday did some light recovery work. The rest of the available players, as well as Abidal and Afellay, trained normally. Ten players from Barça B trained with the group: Oier, Tello, Montoya, Muniesa, Deulofeu, Carmona, Espinosa, Gustavo, Sergi Gomez, and Rosell.

Training session in Centro Sportivo Giacinto Fachetti

The first team, who won’t return to Barcelona until Friday, have trained today at the Centro Sportivo Giacinto Facchetti, in a session in which the players that started the game at the San Siro have worked at a gentler pace.



The FC Barcelona first team are used to training at the Ciutat Esportiva on days after matches, but this Thursday there’s been a break from routine and they have instead trained at the Centro Sportivo Giacinto Facchetti, one of Inter Milan’s training grounds. The club decided to take this measure because of the general strike affecting the whole of Spain on March 29, and will instead be returning to Barcelona on Friday.

Under a warm Lombardy sun, most of the players went through the usual post-match recovery routine, while the players that didn’t start the game that ended 0-0 at the San Siro trained more normally.

The facility is located in the city of Milan itself, and is usually used by the Inter youth teams, where some 20 youngsters live in residence. In fact, the session was visited by Inter technical director Marco Branca and sports director Piero Ausilio, who spent some time chatting to Josep Guardiola and Andoni Zubizarreta.

The players will have lunch together at their hotel and will then have the afternoon off. They’ll have supper together in the hotel at 21.00. (via FCBarcelona.com)

Barça causes madness in Milan

About 1,000 fans have tried to attend the training session the azulgrana from outside the facility.
Some of these were fans of Inter and have chanted Mourinho's name.


The squad of FC Barcelona has created a huge buzz 'Interello', as known to the sports facilities where they trained on Thursday. About 600 people have been waiting the arrival of the coach and this figure has increased to over a thousand once the training was underway. Fans have had to settle for seeing it from outside.

Among those present were some fans of Inter, who have chanted at certain times the name of José Mourinho. (via MD)

Xavi normally trains in Milan

The midfielder limped over by a sore Achilles' tendon Thursday but has worked normally.


Xavi Hernández has been trained as normal on Thursday at the Centro Sportivo Giacinto Facchetti (Interello), owned by Inter Milan. The midfielder finished Wednesday's game limping ostensibly. He himself said he had a sore Achilles tendon.

The headlines in the match against Milan have made a recovery session from 12 noon and have the afternoon free. Barcelona is expected to return to Barcelona this Friday morning.

Barça returns to the Giuseppe Meazza

Barça trained this Tuesday afternoon in AC Milan’s stadium. The Catalans will play the away match of the Champions League quarter-final tomorrow evening at 20:45.

The first team trained for the first time this Tuesday at the venue for tomorrow’s Champions League clash (Wednesday, 20:45). It’s the Giuseppe Meazza, well known by the Barça squad, seeing the the Catalan team have played there in this year’s Group Stage and twice in the 2009/10 season.

All 21 footballers that traveled to Italy trained with normality, amongst them Ibrahim Afellay, who has yet to receive the medical all-clear. Barça trained with the Champions League official ball.

The training session, which is part of the routine when Barça plays away matches, was watched by Sandro Rosell and some of the directors that travelled with the team. The ex-Barça player, Mark van Bommel was also present. The current AC Milan player will miss tomorrow’s match due to suspension. Barça prepare your visit to Mallorca with three subsidiary defenders
