This Thursday morning the pitch transplant process on Field 4 at the Ciutat Esportiva started. The pitch, which was initially brought in to replace the pitch at the Camp Nou, will be used on one of the most used fields by the Barça youth teams.
This Thursday morning, workers started rolling up Field 4’s old pitch at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. It’s the beginning of the process that will see the old pitch replaced by the imported grass from Germany, which is designed to cope with lower temperatures.
The machines are currenly removing the old pitch. Afterward the field will be prepared and leveled for the new strips of grass. Once the pitch is installed, the groundkeeper team will treat the grass to reactivate the plant. The process for the new pitch to take hold to the soil will be completed in about three weeks.
