Leo Messi, on the cover of Time magazine

The North American magazine has picked FC Barcelona’s Leo Messi to feature on the cover of their February edition. The magazine will go on sale worldwide this Sunday, January 29.

It’s the first time that a football player has graced the cover of the magazine, other athletes that have appeared on the cover are Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and Muhammad Ali, amongst others.

Messi keeps on making history on and off the pitch. The Argentinian’s latest conquest is the North American magazine Time. The publication picked the Barça striker to feature on their February cover. The edition will hit the stands worldwide this Sunday, January 29, and Leo Messi’s portrait will feature on the front along with the title: King Leo. According to Time, Lionel Messi is “the greatest player in the world” and perhaps the “best of all time.”

This is the first time that a solitary football player has graced the cover of the magazine. Other athletes of note that have also appeared on the cover are Tiger Woods, Muhammad Ali, Bjön Borg and Michael Jordan, amongst others.
