"We want to revive this team that has lost its soul," justifies a federal member of Cameroon.
Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafut) reduced from fifteen to five the-match ban imposed on Samuel Eto'o by a strike last November led to the cancellation of a friendly match between Cameroon and Algeria.
Following a meeting of eleven hours began Friday and ended this morning in Yaounde, the executive committee of the Fecafut announced that decision, which is equivalent to the striker and captain of the national team will be eight months without playing for his country.
"We want to revive this team that has lost its soul," said Antoine Essomba Eyenga, executive committee member.
"We want discipline in this team. To this end, we need all the players because they are all useful," said Essomba
The Federation revised Cameroon striker's penalty after this week the country's president, Paul Biya, called the head of the agency requesting "a solution to the suspension of Eto'o," the sources said Fecafut.
The Federation also held a two-game sanction for the second captain, Enoh Eyong, but set aside the fine of 1,500 euros Assou Ekotto imposed on the player Benoit.
The discipline committee Fecafut Eto'o accused of encouraging his colleagues to boycott the friendly match to claim the payment of bonuses to the players, so the Cameroon federation must pay $ 500,000 fine on the Algerian Federation.
Eto'o, who is active now in the Russian Anzhi accepted at the time the measure and said he would not appeal the penalty, but called on the leaders of the Fecafut as "corrupt." (via Marca.com)
