[Former player] Rafa Márquez returns to Barcelona to train

The former Barça defender, now with the New York Red Bulls, is keeping fit at the FCB training facilities during the MLS break.


Meanwhile, Gustavo Ledes is cleared for action by Club doctors but Carles Planas is definitely out of next weekend's match against Numancia

The presence of Rafa Márquez was the main talking point coming out of the Barça B training session on Thursday. The MLS is currently taking a break until March so the Mexican international central defender is using the facilities of his former club to keep fit. He worked out for the first time on Thursday with the youngsters of Barça B. The reserves are managed by Eusebio Sacristán, who was Frank Rijkaard's assistant during Rafa's time at Barça.

Rafa Márquez joined Barça in the summer of 2003 and was a key element of the team managed by Frank Rijkaard and during of the first two seasons of the Guardiola era. During this period he picked up a hatful of medals: 4 league titles, 2 Champions League, 1 Kings Cup, 3 Spanish Supercups, 1 European Supercup and 1 Club World Cup.

Rafa Márquez made up for a number of missing players - Oier, Muniesa, Montoya, Sergi Roberto and Cuenca were with the first team in the Miniestadi. Carles Planas was rested due to a hamstring problem and will miss Saturday's game against Numancia.

Meanwhile, Kiko Femenía (ankle) trained away from the main group and Miño worked out in the gym. On the plus side, Gustavo Ledes was given the medical green light after recovering from a hamstring injury. (via FCBarcelona.cat)
