FC Barcelona, in the end, will not transplant the pitch at the Camp Nou. The decision to keep the pitch was made after today’s training session in which the technical staff, players and managers found that the state of the turf, after specific treatment, is in optimal condition.
The pitch responded much better than anticipated to the specific treatment it received after the Cup tie against CD L’Hospitalet on December 22nd. The relatively high temperature and both natural and artificial light have also helped maintain its condition.
The new pitch, imported from Germany, will be put to use at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper’s field 4, where Barça B and the under-17 A youth side train. The transplant will begin this Thursday. (via FCBarcelona.cat)
