Iniesta looking to sum points three by three

Iniesta knows that Madrid have a considerable lead in the league, but has not given up the chase, saying that “if they drop any points, we have to be there just in case”.

The midfielder thinks taking things game by game will “make us more competitive in the Champions League and the final of Copa del Rey”.

On the visit to the Calderón, he knows it won’t be an easy game “but we’re looking forward to it and keen to get another three points”.

Andrés Iniesta knows that Real Madrid's ten-point lead is "a considerable advantage, but our only thoughts are on getting points three by three. That will make us more competitive in the Champions League and the final of the Copa del Rey. In the league, if Madrid drop any points, we have to be there just in case". Like the rest of the squad, Iniesta has not given up on the hope they can still pip Madrid to the Liga title.

The squad are well aware that their away form has been letting them down this season. "We've dropped far too many points and that's reflected in the league table" said Iniesta. Sunday offers a new opportunity to address the issue. "Every game is very difficult, but this is even harder given that we're away from home and playing Atlético ... But we're looking forward to it and keen to get another three points. Our idea is to go there and win." He was impressed with the great all-round performance in beating Valencia so comfortably last weekend and claims that win "has given us an extra push to win on the road".

As for Pep Guardiola renewing his contract, Andrés Iniesta can't imagine him not being at Barça next season. "We don't think that'll happen. The most difficult but also the nicest part of the season is now ahead of us ... I hope the manager stays with us and we are fighting for everything". (via FCBarcelona.cat)
