Awaiting a final decision for the Cup final venue

FC Barcelona and Athletic Club propose playing the King’s Cup final at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Federation said that the final decision will be made within 10 days.

The meeting between the Spanish Football Federation, Athletic Club Bilbao and FC Barcelona, held today in Madrid, finished without a final decision on where the final of the King’s Cup will be played.

FC Barcelona, represented by the secretary of the board of directors, Toni Freixa, and the general director, Antoni Rossich, insisted that the venue of the final must fulfill two fundamental goals: the final must be played at a neutral stadium and the stadium must hold as many supporters as possible.

The Athletic Club Bilbao representatives also insisted on the same requirements. The Santiago Bernabeu is the stadium that allows for the most supporters and it’s a neutral stadium, as Toni Freixa explained at the conclusion of the meeting: “The Santiago Bernabue is the stadium that fulfills the goals that we and Athletic Club have insisted upon.”

The Federation said that they will come to a decision within 10 days on where the final of the King’s Cup will be played. (via FCBarcelona.cat)
